Kuwait Foils Terrorist Plot Targeting Vital Facility, Arrests Daesh-Linked Kuwaiti National

Kuwaiti authorities have foiled a terrorist plot targeting a vital facility in the country and arrested a Kuwaiti national affiliated with the Daesh terrorist organisation, the Ministry of Interior said on Wednesday.

The ministry said the suspect was apprehended following intensive security monitoring and surveillance before he could carry out the planned attack.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had received training in the manufacture of explosives and drones. Authorities said he had also built a drone that was intended to be used in carrying out the terrorist plot and targeting the vital facility.

The suspect was referred to the competent authorities after the necessary legal procedures were taken, with further investigations and measures to proceed in accordance with Kuwaiti law.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed that Kuwait’s security agencies will continue their proactive efforts to monitor and confront activities and plans that could threaten the country’s security and stability.

The ministry also stressed that it would deal firmly and in accordance with the law with anyone seeking to undermine national security or endanger the safety of citizens and residents.

The latest announcement comes amid heightened security concerns across the Gulf, where authorities have continued to strengthen surveillance and security measures around vital infrastructure and other strategic sites.
